Safety Car Seat for Children
As parents, we are always worried about our kid’s safety. The road is not the safest place, but we have no other choice. While the older children and parents can use a seatbelt, small children from newborns can’t use this safety feature yet. Their bodies are still too small for the seat belt to work properly, so we need a dedicated car seat for younger kids. Children’s seat is useful from day one until the kid is tall enough to use a seat belt.
The smaller seat is the infant car seat which also has a shorter period of use. The kid will be too tall and heavy to use it after the first year. But, the infant car seat is convenient when parents often travel with a stroller because they convert into a travel system. An infant car seat also has a handle so parents can carry their newborns without removing them from the seat. The next seat is a convertible, and they usually fit newborns as well.
Convertible car seats have the most extended period of use or usually several years. Convertible car seats have rear and front-facing installation modes depending on the child’s weight and height. The younger or smaller kid will have to use the rear-facing method and move into the front-facing after exceeding the weight or height limit. The seat has the best value among other children’s car seats. The last seat your kid may need is a booster seat which helps a proper fitting using a seatbelt.

About Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX
Parents have to choose the car seat based on the capacity because they work based on the weight and height of the passenger. The most convenient seat is convertible because they last for longer than the other seat types. We can use convertible car seats from day one, and most models can fit healthy newborns with or without additional support. Most have infant insert that improves the fit and are removable when the baby grows bigger.
Some models even have an extra weight or height capacity to allow parents to use one seat for their kids. Because car seats work based on the weight and height of the passenger, it is not uncommon to spend at least for two seats for each kid. Parents can save the budget and hassle of buying new seats by choosing the model that has a higher capacity, like Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX. These seats are very convenient because they are a 4-in-1 system.
A 4-in-1 system means that the seat has four working modes; rear-facing, forward-facing, high back booster, and backless booster, as opposed to 3-in-1, which only offers a high back booster. These seats are ideal for children who grow rapidly or have the potential to be taller than their friends. Using the Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX will ensure that we can keep the seat for as long as possible as they accommodate the growth rate of the passenger.
Both Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX are very similar in capacity and what they can offer. But, the 4Ever is a slightly higher model, so it also provides more. One of the differences is weight capacity because 4Ever can fit children up to 120 pounds instead of 110 pounds like the Grows4Me. The installation process is relatively easy with the low anchor for rear or forward-facing methods. Read also: Britax Allegiance Vs Graco 4Ever here,
Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX Design
Before getting to know what Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX can offer, let’s see the seats first. Aesthetic-wise, they are very similar and seem quite plush with decent padding and soft fabric material. The seats have a five-point harness that buckles on the crotch and chest. There are several different height adjustments to fit a growing kid. They also have a similar weight, or approximately 22 pounds, with a non-removable base. These seats convert into a backless booster meaning the backrest is detachable.
Parents can remove the padding or fabric from the seat to wash and wipe the plastic material with a damp cloth. These seats have a cup holder, but 4Ever has one on each armrest; parents must manually attach the cup holder. The widest part of Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX is on their cup holder, which is around 19 inches wide. The manufacturer has a ten-year expiration date for each seat and requires replacement after they are involved in a crash.
Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX Installation
One of the most critical parts when buying a car seat is checking the installation process. Not a few seats are challenging to work with, but most are manageable. The Grows4Me seat can use low anchors or a seatbelt for both installation modes. Note that the weight limit for front-facing mode with low anchors is 45 pounds. For the rear-facing, put the seat and recline it correctly while facing the vehicle’s rear.
Pull the LATCH strap from the storage and extend the strap so it can reach the vehicle’s connector. The LATCH usually is in the rear-facing mode, so it should be straightforward. Pull the strap and hook it to your car. Please do it for both sides and press the seat while tightening the strap to get a firm installation. We are not a fan of the Grows4Me connector because it is the traditional hook that can be challenging to remove, mainly because we can’t see the car’s anchors properly due to its placement.
If you don’t mind adding more processes, we recommend using the seatbelt instead. With the seatbelt, parents have to open the bottom padding on the seat to expose the rear belt path. It is very easy to click the belt and remove it than using LATCH, and it achieves the same secure position. The 4Ever DLX has identical installation steps, but the low anchor connector is better. The connector has plastic tips and a push-button so we can press it when removing it from vehicle anchors.
Usually, the LATCH is already in rear-facing mode, marked in a blue color path. There is a front-facing path as well with an orange color mark. Parents need to open the seat fabric and expose the routing path to change the LATCH position. Like Grows4Me, the front installation using LATCH is only until the passenger is 45 pounds and moves to the seatbelt after.
Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX Fitting
Next is for the fitting range of Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX. Both seats have been useful since day one and even for preemies with smaller bodies. The lowest harness setting should fit their tiny bodies, and the insert is necessary for younger passengers. The shoulder padding is removable, and some caregivers may need to remove it when it gets in the way of fitting. Toddlers from one year old still have plenty of room to grow, and they seem comfortable without the insert.
The fit in forward-facing mode is similar, and at 5-6 years old, children can still use the harness. We found that the harness will fit passengers until around 46-47 inches tall. At 46 inches tall, the passenger can choose to move to the high back booster, and they will have plenty of room to adjust in this mode. The capacity for the backless booster is up to 110 pounds on Grows4Me or 120 pounds in 4Ever DLX. The children must use a backless booster when exceeding 65 pounds.
Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX Features
Lastly, we want to mention some exciting features, especially from the 4Ever. First, we prefer the LATCH connector in this seat because it is easier to use and more modern. Second, the car seat’s fabric has a RapidRemove system. The feature allows parents to separately remove the padding and fabric to wash instead of detaching the whole seat. Third, the seat has a double cup holder if the passenger loves snacking and brings their sippy cups while traveling.
Graco Grows4Me Vs Graco 4Ever DLX
The Graco Grows4Me and Graco 4Ever DLX are similar to the same 4-in-1 solutions. They will most likely fit the same children and last until they are ready to use seat belts without any booster. However, the 4Ever DLX has more features and is easier to install or remove when using the LATCH connector. The LATCH connector is more convenient than the traditional hook in Grows4Me. The seat also has a better padding-removal system for maintenance and a slightly higher backless booster capacity.
There are so many good car seats to choose from, and these two are very convenient. We recommend the Graco 4Ever DLX because it has a better installation system when using the low anchor mode. The current price is higher than Grows4Me, but we think it is a worthy investment for a better experience,
